I was planning on it, but it looks like I will be coming back here to Mexico City for an accident review hearing on the 14th and will not return till the 21st. I have been down here most of the week on the preliminary investagation. (one of our pumping units was involved in a fatality). I get home Mondy to put the 3-d data togather Then pretty much turn back around to go tothe hearing.........So I don't get to go Darn it I was looking forward to meeting Steve and the other Linters

You know what? I'm not going to be able to make this master class. I'm spitting nails...I'm seeing red...I'm way bummed out.
Actually, I'm a bit disappointed. But what happened is that our church planned a reception for our lone graduating senior on that Saturday, and it would be bad form for me to go running off and miss that event. I was not only looking forward to hearing Brune, but also meeting some new lutherie friends.

Joshua, you'll still have a grand time. And I think you will profit from meeting several of the LINT guys as well. Talk to Bo Walker--he's quite the classical maker himself. And visit w/ Bob Harris, who has studied w/ Jose Romanillos.

We'll want a full report when it's all over.

Steve.... I was really looking forward to meeting you. I'll have to catch the next LINT meeting.

I will give a report back on the masterclass. From what little I can gather, I almost think Mr. Brune is a bit bothered by the quantity of younger makers nowadays, so I hope this does not put the experience in any kind of negative light. I'm not quite sure even what the masterclass is about, but I'm sure his expertise will be well received, and I will pick up some important points.

At worst, I'll leave my mark on Dallas/Ft Worth and high tail it out of their jurisdiction!

Looking forward to meeting Bob. I read his article on the LINT site. I was in Spain for Jose Romanillos' 70th birthday celebration a month before that (IIRC). Some of the best makers in the world were there (I was quite out of place!), but great times regardless!

So from this forum, its just me attending?

best wishes,
Joshua

Same here, Joshua. That's the nail-spitting part for me.
The meetings are every other month, so the next will be some time in June. Ahhh, BUT: I've got a nephew, my bro's oldest son, getting married in June. So again there may be a scheduling conflict.

Perhaps we could share a cup of coffee in Houston? I get down there as often as possible to buy wood. (Not often enough, but it does happen.)

Steve... you might be buying wood right outside my house! I live right by Clark's Hardwood Lumber in the Heights, right off I-10. Great place...

My brother is getting married June as well, and I'll be in Chicago for it. Definitely let me know when you'll be in Houston, and since I don't drink coffee I'll have a beer and you can have coffee (http://www.onioncreekcafe.com/ - trendy place - coffee, beer, wine, good food right by the house). Looking forward to it!

best wishes,
Joshua

That's the place! I go there as often as I can. We were there a few weeks ago and found the most amazing things. I simply love Clark's. It's a bit pricy, but after a while, one doesn't care.
There's quite a revival going on in the Heights... it's great what you guys are doing there.

Steve, I've gotten some incredible wood there. I've found some things there I'm scared to even mention on this forum! You kow... in case they get more of it. Being a few houses down from it though does give me an advantage there ;)

Next time you go, drop me a line.
